First Reconciliation and First Eucharist
First Reconciliation – The whole power of the Sacrament of Penance consists in restoring us to God’s grace and joining us with him in an intimate friendship. (CCC1468)
Grade 2 students in both the CCD program and Saint Therese School receive instruction which prepares them to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation.
This year the students will receive their First Reconciliation on Saturday, March 4. 2017 at 11:30. Visiting priests will be available for family and friends to go to Reconciliation while the children are receiving the Sacrament. It is a family celebration of God’s forgiveness.
First Holy Communion – A child of God receives the food of new life, the Body and the Blood of Christ. (CCC 1244)
Grade 2 students in both the CCD program and Saint Therese School receive instruction which prepares them to receive Jesus in the Eucharist.
This year First Communion will be celebrated on Sunday, April 30, 2017 at 1:00.
Family Eucharist Days
Family Eucharist Days are opportunities for the families of the children making their First Communion to gather together. Sessions will be designed so that the whole family can participate. Family banners will be created that will be used to decorate the Church for First Communion.
After the sessions, we will gather in the cafeteria to end our day with a covered dish dinner as an opportunity for us to relax and to share a meal.
Family Eucharist Days are scheduled for Sunday, March 5 starting at 10:30 in the cafeteria and Sunday, March 12 starting at 10:30 in the cafeteria. Additional details and RSVP forms have been sent home.
Jesus Day is a retreat day for all children receiving their First Communion. This day includes second Reconciliation, craft, music practice, Last Supper Scripture, and bread making sessions as well as group practice and lunch.
