First Reconciliation – The whole power of the Sacrament of Penance consists in restoring us to God’s grace and joining us with him in an intimate friendship. (CCC1468)
Grade 2 students in both the CCD program and Saint Therese School receive instruction which prepares them to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation.
This year the students will receive their First Reconciliation on Saturday, March 2, 2019 at 11:30. Visiting priests will be available for family and friends to go to Reconciliation while the children are receiving the Sacrament. It is a family celebration of God’s forgiveness.
It is a very special year in the spiritual life of your child. The reception of the sacraments of Reconciliation and Eucharist for the first time is important to your child, your family and all of St. Therese Parish. We look forward to celebrating with you.
First Holy Communion – A child of God receives the food of new life, the Body and the Blood of Christ. (CCC 1244)
Grade 2 students in both the CCD program and Saint Therese School receive instruction which prepares them to receive Jesus in the Eucharist.
Family Eucharist Days
Family Eucharist Days are opportunities for the families of the children making their First Communion to gather together. Sessions will be designed so that the whole family can participate. Family banners will be created that will be used to decorate the Church for First Communion.
After the sessions, we will gather in the cafeteria to end our day with a covered dish dinner as an opportunity for us to relax and to share a meal.
Jesus Day is a retreat day for all children receiving their First Communion. This day includes second Reconciliation, craft, music practice, Last Supper Scripture, and bread making sessions as well as group practice and lunch.
CCD students will need to turn in a Jesus Day Release form to Judy Konopka. This form and other details will be sent home in January.
It is a Catholic tradition of Crowning Mary during the Month of May, a month that is devoted to our Blessed Mother. It recognizes Mary as Queen of Heaven and Earth.
Our Second Grade students are invited to lead our parish in the Crowning of Mary during all of the Masses on May 4 and 5, 2019. They will wear their Communion dresses/outfits.
Mass selection form will be sent home in April.
Please contact Judy Konopka at email@example.com or 412-462-8162 with any questions about First Reconciliation, First Communion and the related activites.
